Safely Secure & Dispose of Medications

Join Together Atlantic County (JTAC) a substance misuse prevention coalition would like to remind everyone to properly secure and dispose of their medications to help prevent from getting into the wrong hands and also help protect our environment. To help you safely secure your medications, JTAC offers FREE locking medicine cabinets to residents of Atlantic County. Permanent Prescription Drop Boxes are located in police departments and pharmacies for you to safely dispose of unused, unwanted and expired medications. Most drop box locations are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless indicated otherwise on our website. JTAC also offers FREE drug deactivation bags to dispose of prescription medication including liquids in the privacy of your own home. JTAC challenges you to take the Five-Step American Medicine Chest Challenge:

  • Take inventory of your prescription and over-the-counter medicine.
  • Secure your medicine cabinet.
  • Dispose of your unused, unwanted, and expired medicine at a permanent prescription drop box or by   using a drug deactivation bag.
  • Take your medicine(s) exactly as prescribed.
  • Talk to your children about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

 

Please note the Egg Harbor City Police Department has a Prescription Drop Box located in the lobby, which is accessible 24 hours a day.  Location is 500 London Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.
