Atlantic City Electric COVID-19 Updates

Dear Valued Customer,

At Atlantic City Electric, we are committed to keeping you informed as we work to deliver clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy service for our customers and communities today, and every day. As the COVID-19 public health crisis continues to impact our nation, federal, state and local stay-at-home orders remain in place, but our work to maintain, inspect and enhance the local energy delivery grid continues.

We know that the uncertainties regarding this pandemic are difficult to manage, but we want to assure you we are here to work with our customers, and just last week we extended our COVID-19 customer support policies until at least July 1. These policies include:

  • Suspending service disconnections for all customers and working with customers on a case-by-case basis to establish payment arrangements and identify energy assistance options.
  • Waiving all new late fees for customers.
  • Reconnecting service for customers who have had their service disconnected. No new connection fees or deposits will be required.

Customers who may be challenged in paying their bill should contact Atlantic City Electric Customer Care as soon as possible at 800-642-3780. As of May 15, the company has already established more than 833 customized payment arrangement plans helping customers get back on track. The company also has reconnected energy service for 139 customers where it was safe to do so.

We will work closely with customers to avoid having their service shut off, waive late payment fees, discuss reconnections, and determine eligibility for assistance programs. Visit atlanticcityelectric.com/customersupport to learn more about our assistance programs.

With more people staying home due to the pandemic, we want to help customers use energy more efficiently. Following a few simple tips can help you save 20 percent or more on your monthly energy bill:

  • Manage your bill on My Account. Online energy management tools show you how much energy you are using. The bill to date feature lets you know what your bill costs are to date at any time during the month. You can also get tips based on your energy saving goals.
  • Unplug unused electrical devices when you leave a room. Chargers use energy when left plugged in after your device is fully charged.
  • Check your thermostat. Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter, and higher in the summer, if health permits.
  • Adjust your blinds. Raise your blinds in the winter to let warm sunlight into your home, and lower the blinds in the summer to keep cool air inside.
  • Dust or vacuum radiators. Dust and grime impede the flow of heat; keeping them clean helps radiators maintain their efficiency.
  • Your water heater is the third highest energy expense in your home. If the water temperature is set at 140°F, turning it down to 130°F will save a few dollars each month.
  • Using a microwave to cook meals uses about half the energy of a conventional oven.
  • Washing clothes in cold water instead of hot can save you about $50 per year.

Please be reminded that when you see an Atlantic City Electric crew in your neighborhood, they’ll likely be wearing masks and gloves, among other personal protective equipment, to protect themselves and our customers. Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers, employees, and communities. During this pandemic, we will power through together.

Thank you,
