No Contamination of Public Drinking Water Supply
Last week, during the demolition of an old pump station, an old piece of equipment inside the structure that contained mercury broke and a small amount of mercury was released on the surface. Remediation began immediately and the Atlantic County Department of Health was called in and approved the remediation work being done. There are no public water supply wells at or even near the location of the spill.
There was no contamination of the public drinking water supply.
