Open sanctuary for prayer on Election Day Egg Harbor City, NJ --- Zion Lutheran Church (also a polling place), located at 312 Philadelphia Ave., Egg Harbor City will hold an Open sanctuary for prayer on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The doors to the sanctuary will be open during polling hours on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Members of Zion as well as the public are welcome to come in and pray. We encourage prayers for the well-being of our nation, for our ability to engage in civil discourse, and for a government that ensures the needs of all are met for the sake of the common good. AMERICAN LEGION POST 158 VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE PROGRAM SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11, 2018 The American Legion Post 158, located at 527 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, invites all veterans and current service members and the public to a Veterans Day Observance Program on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 5:00 PM. There will be a Retrieving and Posting of the Colors with a bugler. Commander Micschlich and Atlantic County Vice Commander Presiding. This years Veteran's Day marks 100 years since the secession of hostilities in World War I in 1918. The War to end all Wars! On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month peace came and lasted a total of 20 years! The American Legion was formed  shortly after the armistice in Paris in 1919 so next year the American Legion nationwide will be celebrating 100 years as a Veterans Organization. Originally, Veteran's Day was originally known as Armistice Day until Congress changed it to honor all Veterans after World War II. The next meeting of the Rudolph Elmer Post 158 & Victor McAnney VFW Post 5341 will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 7:30  PM in the Post Home located at 527 Philadelphia Avenue in Egg Harbor City.
