Tax Preparation Site: Egg Harbor City LIBRARY, 134 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ, on THURSDAYS ONLY from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Site will be open from FEBRUARY 1 to APRIL 15, 2015. Walk-ins are welcome, or call 2-1-1 for an appointment. Make sure to bring ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS [see below]. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, or VITA, is coordinated locally by the United Way of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey and the Campaign for Working Families, or CWE. The volunteers are certified by the IRS, and use IRS-approved Tax Wise software on computers that can only be used for tax returns to protect confidentiality. The volunteers received training and certification at Stockton. Many, but not all of the volunteers in the training program at Stockton are or were students at the college, majoring in finance or accounting. The program is available for personal income taxes ONLY. The income limit for single filers is $20,000 and for couples and families is $53,000. Residents can walk-in at the site, BUT must be sure to all the information needed to file their return, INCLUDING the new proof of health insurance form. Other required information includes Social Security cards, any state-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license), W-2 forms, 1099 forms and any other income documents, a voided check for direct deposit of a refund, child care provider information ir applicable and the 1098 Tuition payment form if applicable. This local United Way volunteer income tax preparation assistance program also helps links residents to other services and raise awareness of other programs available to residents, especially those laid off from casinos or other businesses last year who may need help with housing and job issues as their unemployment benefits expire.
