* Ceremony for Disposal of FlagsCeremony for Disposal of Flags

Time: 1:12 pm

Annual Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags by Egg Harbor City Elmer Rudolph American Legion Post 158 The American Legion Post 158, located at 527 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, will hold a the annual Ceremony for Disposal of Unserviceable Flags on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the field location of 812 Darmstadt Avenue, Mullica Township. The ceremony of “Respect of the Flag” is an integral part of the American Legion culture. Many local Atlantic County American Legion Posts have appropriated blue mailbox-type containers outside at their Posts that serve as a drop-off by the public for the collection of unserviceable flags. The approved method of disposing of unserviceable Flags has long been that they be destroyed by burning. This ceremony is to encourage proper respect for the Flag of the United States and to provide for a disposal of unserviceable flags in a dignified manner. The American Legion Post 158 Color Guard will be present, and Thomas Messina, American Legion Department of New Jersey state vice commander will officiate the ceremony. The public is invited to attend. The public is invited to bring old or damaged flags to the ceremony. If unable to attend the ceremony, but have a flag you would like to properly retire, the public is invited to drop it off at the Mullica Township Town Hall, 4528 South White Horse Pike, or at the Egg Harbor City Elmer Rudolph American Legion Post 158 in the metal box at the front of the building prior to November 7th.
