FREE Ziti Dinner for Furloughed Federal Workers, Federal Contractors and their Families Egg Harbor City, NJ --- Zion Lutheran Church is hosting a FREE Ziti Dinner for Furloughed Federal Workers, Federal Contractors and their Families on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Zion Lutheran Church, located at 312 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ has reached out to local area restaurants for help in supplying the meals to these families. Although the shutdown has been suspended, there remains uncertainty as to what will happen when the three weeks are up. For some of these families the impact will be long lasting, so Zion Lutheran is reaching out to local restaurants who want to give back and let them know that the community cares. The meals will be served by Church volunteers. There will also be door prizes. Sorry, NO Take Outs available. For more information, call 609-965-1813.

AMERICAN LEGION POSTS Egg Harbor City 158 and Galloway Post 430 Four Chaplains Program SUNDAY, February 24, 2019 The American Legion Post 158, located at 527 Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, and the Galloway American Legion Post 430 invite all veterans and current service members and the public to a Four Chaplains Program on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served following the program. The Four Chaplains program commemorates February 3, 1943 when the transport ship Dorchester was hit by a torpedo fired from a German U-boat off the frigid waters of the North Atlantic. The Four Chaplains - George L. Fox, a Methodist minister, Alexander D. Goode, a rabbi, Clark V. Poling, a Reformed Church of America pastor, and John P. Washington, a Catholic priest, began to distribute life jackets as the ship listed heavily to one side, and to help keep some order in otherwise chaotic situations. When it became apparent to them that there were not enough life jackets to go around, they without hesitation passed out their own life jackets to four other men so that they may have a chance to survive. As men floated in the water, all they could see and remember were the four chaplains standing on the slanted deck, linked arm-in-arm, praying to the one God that intertwined their four faiths.
